Born in Zadonsk, Voronezh Province on May 19 (31), 1895.
Member of the Civil War, the detachment commander.
He graduated from the Faculty of Geography of Leningrad State University with a degree in geomorphology (1930).
Since 1938 Candidate of Geological and Mineralogical Sciences.
He worked in Geolkom - TsNIGRI - VSEGEI (1927–1966): collector, researcher, senior researcher.
Doctor of Geological and Mineralogical Sciences. Professor of the Paleontology Department of the Leningrad Mining Institute, delivered the course “Methods of biofacial analysis”.
Lenin Prize in 1967 - for scientific work in 15 volumes of "Fundamentals of Paleontology" (1954-1964).
