Biography

The future maestro of light music was born in Paris, in a family of Italian and French. He began to study music at the age of 7, and at 13 he entered the Paris Conservatory to study piano, harmony and conducting. After graduating at 26, he took part as a conductor, working with French jazz band leader Ray Ventura .

In 1959, Claude Vazori took the pseudonym Caravelli on behalf of the Caravelle jet plane, created in the same year by the French airline Société Industrielle Aérospatiale . Claude changed the ending in honor of his father, an Italian by birth. With this pseudonym, he began recording at the French record company Versailles, which was later acquired by Columbia Records in 1964. Thanks to this, Caravelli began his international career, making records turning gold in France, Japan, Israel and South America.

The discography of the orchestra includes more than 100 albums, released almost in all countries of the world. In the USSR, two of his records were released. This is Caravelli's album in Moscow (1982), recorded in Moscow at the studio of the All-Union record company Melody , as well as a collection of the best compositions.

The style of Caravelli's arrangements is soft, graceful, with a predominance of strings, with careful equalization of instruments in timbre and volume. The sound of the Caravelli Orchestra is close to the sound of the F. Pursel Orchestra. Caravelli came to the USSR with a concert tour. His orchestra attended concerts in Riga and Moscow in the summer of 1981.
