“ American Housewife ” ( eng. American Housewife ) - American comedy television series, created by Sarah Dunn with Katie Mixon in the title role, which was released on ABC October 11, 2016. At the center of the plot is self-confident Kathy Otto, a wife and mother of three children, who is overweight and faces ridicule from the ideal wives in the rich city of Westport, Connecticut .

May 11, 2017 ABC extended the series for the second season [1] . On May 11, 2018, the series was extended for the third season [2] .
On May 10, ABC extended the television series for the fourth season. [3]
Premiere season 4 is scheduled for September 28, 2019.
Content
Production
On September 18, 2015, it was announced that ABC had bought a pilot episode script written by Sarah Dunn. The project was then called the “Second Fattest Housewife of Westport” [4] . On January 28, 2016, the channel ordered the shooting of a pilot episode for the 2016–17 season [5] . The pilot was directed by Ruben Fleischer [6] .
Casting for central roles began in February 2016. On February 17, it was announced that Kathy Mixon would play a leading role in the pilot [7] . On March 1, the Broadway actress Carly Hughes got the role of one of the wealthy housewives, which is currently going through a divorce [8] . The next day, Eli Wong signed up to play another housewife, who also does not fit into the circle of Westport women because of her good nature [9] . On 4 March, Didrich Bader joined the pilot in the role of Katie's husband [10] .
On May 12, 2016, the channel approved the pilot and gave the green light to produce the first season [11] .
