Biography

He was born on November 24 (December 6), 1831 in the family of the rector of the Nikolaev Cathedral Olonets Alexander Vasilyevich Prilezhaev. After graduating from the Olonets Theological Seminary in 1853, he came to Petersburg, where he continued his studies at the St. Petersburg Theological Academy . In 1857 he graduated from the Academy with a master’s degree among the best students and was assigned to serve in the church at the Russian embassy in Paris. In 1857-1859 he served as the deacon of the embassy church in Paris. At the beginning of 1859 he was transferred by a priest to Wiesbaden, Naples, Nice [2] . In May 1859-1863 - the second priest at the church in Paris. In 1863-1867 - rector of the temple in Nice . In 1864 he received the rank of archpriest. In the winter of 1864-1865, he was the spiritual father of Empress Maria Alexandrovna and Tsarevich Nikolai Alexandrovich , counseled him at the end of 1865, was the law teacher and confessor of Grand Duchess Maria Alexandrovna (Duchess of Edinburgh) and Grand Duke Sergei Alexandrovich , who was preparing for the first confession. In 1865, he participated in a service in Nice on the occasion of the death of Tsarevich Nikolai Alexandrovich. The main business of his abbot is the device of the Russian cemetery in Nice . “With his high pastoral qualities he earned the love of the flock, which brought him velvet embroidered with gold and a gold pimple cross with precious ornaments. He died of consumption on August 28 (September 9), 1887. On October 20, his body was brought to St. Petersburg. He was buried at the Volkov Orthodox Cemetery. The grave has not been preserved.
