Biography
Ivan Gladenko was born on September 20, 1915 in Annovka. He soon moved to Kharkov and in 1933 entered the Kharkov Veterinary Institute, which he graduated in 1938 and was left there as a researcher, where he worked until 1941. In 1941 he was evacuated to the Kazakh SSR in connection with the beginning of the Second World War and worked in evacuation until 1944. In 1944 he returned to the Ukrainian SSR and got a job at the Ukrainian Research Institute of Experimental Veterinary Medicine, to which he will devote 41 years. From 1944 to 1945 he worked as a scientist, from 1945 to 1947 he headed the laboratory of veterinary-chemical protection and the department of pharmacology and toxicology. In 1957, he was elected director and worked in this position until 1985, at the same time from 1964 to 1985 he headed the laboratory of pharmacology and toxicology. In 1968 he was appointed professor and worked until 1985. Since 1985 - retired.
Ivan Gladenko died on October 8, 1991 in the Ukrainian SSR .
Scientific work
The main scientific works are devoted to veterinary toxicology, chemotherapy of parasitic and infectious diseases of farm animals. The author of over 150 scientific papers.
- He gave recommendations and regulations on the use of pesticides in crop production and animal husbandry.
- He substantiated the possibility of using therapeutic aerosols for animal diseases.
- He developed methods of toxicological assessment of pesticides, studied their effect on the animal organism.
Awards and Prizes
- 1966 - Order of the Badge of Honor .
- 5 scientific medals of the USSR.
