Began publishing since 1993. He is the author of four poetry collections [2] , the book of the essay “View from himself” and numerous publications in the magazines “New World”, “Star”, “Banner”, “October”, “New Coast”, “Volga” and others. Translated English-language poets: Louise Glick, Robert Frost, Shaymasa Heaney, James Merill.

Remaining within the framework of traditional poetics, Sweet Cherry is trying in the smallest shifts of everyday life to see the reflection of the original plan and place in this plan of man. According to the definition of critic Anna Kuznetsova, his "philosophical lyrics of an honest Stoic" [3] is aimed at accepting the world. “The acceptance of the world, as it is, is not enough to say that the dominant is a frenzied motive of the poetry of V. Cherry” (Lily Pann) [4] . A general characteristic of his poetry is given in a review by V. Gandelsman on the collection “His Time”: “In the case of V. Cherry, if you do not go into details, I would note the calm dignity and balance of his best poems, their inner coverage ... I would note its holistic worldview and recognition, and the almost physical presence of intonation ... ” [5] .

Critics bring Cherry's work closer to the poetry of two other Leningrad poets - Vladimir Gandelsman and Lev Danovsky . In 2013, the book “Classical Stacks” was published jointly with Vladimir Gandelsman - an attempt by two poets to create a voluminous image of the special poetic vision inherent in the character of the story of Sellinger Simor Glass (second edition in 2016).
