Subgranular zone ( English Subgranular zone, SGZ ) - an area of ββthe brain located between the layer of granular cells and the hilus of the dentate gyrus of the hippocampus . In the subgranular zone, postnatal ("adult") neurogenesis occurs - the formation of new neurons from pluripotent progenitor cells. [2]
