The name Ugolnaya Street appeared in the 1870s within the boundaries of the turn from house number 5 to Ugolnaya Embankment . The toponym is associated with Coal Island , where the street leads.
The section from Ugolnaya Embankment to Lake Sestroretsky Spill has been called Straight Street since the 1870s, in the form of a driveway.
In the 1930s, Straight Street was incorporated into Coal. Then, it included an unnamed passage to the site of Dubovaya Street [1] ).
