Baron Danally

Henry Pritti, 1st Baron Danally (1743-1801)

Baron Danally of Kilboy in Tipperary County is an ancestral title in the Irish Peer system . It was created on July 31, 1800 for Henry Pritti (1743-1801), who previously represented Banacher (1767-1768), Gauran (1769-1776) and Tipperary (1776-1790) in the Irish House of Commons . His son, Henry Sadlir Pritti, 2nd Baron Danally (1775–1854), represented Carlow in the Irish House of Commons (1798–1801) and Oakhampton in the British House of Commons (1819–1824), and also served in the House of Lords as an Irish peer -representative (1828-1854). His successor was his nephew, Henry Pritti, 3rd Baron Danally (1807–1885). He was succeeded by his son, Henry O'Callaghan Pritti, 4th Baron Danally (1851-1927). He was an Irish peer-representative in the House of Lords (1891-1927) and served as Lord Lieutenant of County Tipperary (1905-1922). As of 2014, the title holder was his great-grandson, Henry Francis Cornelius Pritti, 7th Baron Danally (born 1948), who succeeded his father in 1992 .

The family house is Kilboy House in the vicinity of Nina in the county of Tipperary , which was built in 1771 by the architect William Leeson. The house was burned by the IRA on August 8, 1922 . Baron Danally filed a loss claim with the new Irish government, but the money paid was not enough to restore the house to its original state.
