The island of Budelli belongs to the national park of the La Maddalena archipelago, its territory and water area belong to the protected zone. The island is rocky but there is a beautiful beach. The pink beach of the island has such a color due to the tiny fragments of the shells of the seashells composing it. There is only one small office building on the island. There is no population. The area of the island is 1.6 km2. Partially covered with shrubs.
The island belonged until 2010 to the bankrupt Milan company. In 2011, an Italian court ordered it put up for auction for a starting 4.5 million euros, but he did not find a buyer. In 2013, the second auction was held and it was won by Michael Garth, a New Zealand tycoon who offered 2.9 million euros for the island. National Park challenged the auction in court. After three years of litigation, the court ruled that the disputed asset should be transferred to the national park.
The beach of the island is shown in the film " Red Desert " (1964) by Michelangelo Antonioni , who received the Golden Lion prize of the Venice Film Festival.
