The Canton of Chambery-2 ( French: Chambéry-2 ) is one of the 19 cantons of the Savoy department of the Auvergne-Rhone-Alpes region of France . The canton's INSEE code is 7308. It is fully located in Chambery County [1] . Canton was established in 2015.

History
According to the law of May 17, 2013 and the decree of February 14, 2014, the number of cantons in the Savoy department decreased from 37 to 19. The new territorial division of the departments into cantons entered into force during the 2015 elections. Thus, the canton of Chambery-2 was formed on March 22, 2015 from the part of the city of Chambery and the commune Jacob-Belcombet, which was previously part of the canton of Conjen. As a result of the reform, the new canton partially included the old cantons of Chambery-Est and Chambery-Sud [2] [3] .
Population
According to the 2012 census (considered the population of the communes that were included in the canton in 2015), the population of Chambery-2 was 22,344. Of these, 24.1% were under the age of 20, 14.8% were over 65. 35.2% have higher education . Unemployment - 12.8%. The active population (over 15 years old) is 11,156 people [4] .
Economics
Distribution of the population by occupation in the canton: 5.0% - artisans, traders, business leaders, 20.6% - intellectual workers, 26.2% - social workers , 30.1% - government employees and 18.0% - workers [4] .

Policy
According to the law of May 17, 2013 [2], voters of each canton elect two members of the general council of a department of different sexes during the election. They are elected for 6 years by a majority of votes based on the results of one or two rounds of elections [5] .
In the first round of cantonal elections on March 22, 2015, 5 pairs of candidates ran for Chambery-2 (turnout was 48.15%). In the second round on March 29, Brigitte Boshaton and Michelle Bouvard were elected with the support of 57.84% for 2015-2021. The turnout for the elections was 45.23% [6] .
