Turner Field

Turner Field is a baseball stadium located in Atlanta (Georgia, USA). Since 1997, it has been the home stadium of the Atlanta Braves Major League Baseball Club. The building was originally built for the 1996 Summer Olympics and was called the Santenial Olympic Stadium , but before the 1997 Major League Baseball season it was converted to a baseball stadium, which allowed the Braves to move from the Atlanta-Fulton County Stadium , where they held matches since 1966.

In addition, the stadium hosted the All-Major League Baseball match of 2000 .

On November 11, 2013, the Braves announced that, at the end of the lease in 2016, they plan to move from Turner Field to the new Santrast Park stadium, which will be built in Cobb County , in the northwestern suburb of Atlanta. The last regular season baseball game will take place at Turner Field on October 2 against the Detroit Tigers [4] . On December 21, 2015, Georgia State University announced that it had applied for a rental stadium, which will be converted to play American football and where the student team will play [5] .

Events

Since 1997, Turner Field has also been used as a venue for concerts and can host up to 60,000 people at such events. Artists such as the Dave Matthews Band , Metallica , Eminem , Paul Macartney and The Rolling Stones [6] [7] performed here.

Since 2003, an annual match has been held at the stadium between student baseball teams of the Georgia Institute of Technology and the University of Georgia . Moreover, the attendance of this match is the highest in student baseball. So, for example, in 2004, the Turner Field match gathered 28,386 more than the Student World Series. Universities donate all proceeds from a game at the stadium to Atlanta's Children's Healthcare [8] .

The stadium is often used as a filming location for movies and TV shows. Here were shot such films as " The Crew ", " I Want Like You ", " Twisted Ball " and the 19th season of the series Amazing Race [9] [10] [11] .
