2004 European Football Championship (U19)

2004 UEFA European Under-19 Championship - the 53rd draw of the UEFA European Under-21 Championship . It was held from July 13 to July 24, 2004 in Switzerland . The Spaniards for the 5th time in their history became champions. This tournament was also part of the qualification for the 2005 World Youth Championships .

Qualification

Qualification for the final tournament was held in two stages:

  • First round
  • Second round

51 national teams for two rounds fought for seven trips to the final tournament. The Swiss national team was exempted from qualification as a representative of the host country.

In the first qualifying round, 48 teams were divided into 12 subgroups (4 in each). According to the results of mini-tournaments, the two best teams from each subgroup, as well as the best team among those who took 3rd place, entered the second round. There, the teams were divided into seven subgroups, the winners of which received a ticket to the final tournament. Three teams missed the first qualifying round.
