Biography
Born in the Ternopil region, Tolstoy , moved to Moscow to enter the university, successfully graduated from the Faculty of Psychology of Moscow State University in 1976 [1] . He was a student of A.N. Leontyev , Halperin , Luria , Merab Mamardashvili. Thesis: "Organization of mnemonic activity in patients with local brain lesions." Scientific advisers Luria A. R. , E. D. Chomskaya . The value of the work consisted in an unconventional approach to the study of mnestic activity , which was considered not as an isolated process, but as a special form of activity that includes a number of processes that do not have a proper mnemonic focus. Using this approach, it was possible to identify and describe the multicomponent composition of mnestic activity.
The beginning of the activities of Yuri Vladimirovich is connected with the study of the semantic organization of human memory and the types of its violation in local brain lesions . The form of memory pathology - violation of semantic memory as a mnestic activity is highlighted and described. In subsequent years, Yu. V. Mikadze substantiated and developed a new area of neuropsychology - differential psychology of childhood. An applied aspect of research in this area is the use of neuropsychological methods to analyze individual characteristics of normal development and deviations in the development of children and adolescents to identify causes of school failure. The results obtained made it possible to describe a number of neuropsychological syndromes that characterize the specifics of positive and negative development of mental functions in primary school age, as well as to describe the specifics of differences in the formation of mental functions in different sociocultural conditions. The theme of the PhD thesis: "Organization of mnestic activity in patients with local brain lesions." Theme of the doctoral dissertation: "Neuropsychology of individual differences in childhood." [1] At the Faculty of Psychology, Moscow State University M.V.
