Cystatins

Cystatins are a family of serine protease inhibitor proteins that are structurally homologous to chicken cystatin. Typical cystatin contains about 115 amino acids , has 4 evolutionarily conserved cysteine residues, forming two disulfide bonds . Cystatins can undergo glycosylation and / or phosphorylation .
