Aix-les-Bains-1 ( Fr. Aix-les-Bains-1 ) is one of the 19 cantons of the Savoie department , Auvergne-Rhône-Alpes region , France . The INSEE code of the canton is 7313. It is entirely located in the district of Chambery [2] . Canton was created in 2015.

Content
History
According to the law of May 17, 2013 and the decree of February 14, 2014, the number of cantons in the Savoie department decreased from 37 to 19. The new territorial division of departments into cantons came into force during the 2015 elections. Thus, the canton of Aix-les-Bains-1 was formed on March 22, 2015 from a part of the city of Aix-les-Bains, eight communes of the abolished Alban canton and 7 communes of the abolished canton of Aix-les-Bains-Nortresi [3] [4 ] .
According to the 2015 reform, 15 communes and part of Aix-les-Bains were included in the canton. However, on January 1, 2016, the communes of Alban, Sesan, Eperse, Moniar, Saint-Germain-la-Chambotte and Saint-Giraud merged into one commune Antrlak [5] [6] .
Population
According to the 2012 census (the population of communes is considered, which in 2015 were included in the canton), the population of Aix-les-Bains-1 was 26,111 people, of whom 18,473 people live outside Aix-les-Bains. Of these, 27.0% were under 20 years old, 13.9% were over 65. 27.0% have a higher education . Unemployment is 6.1%. The active population (over 15 years old) is 9000 [7] .

Population distribution by employment in the city of Aix-les-Bains: 0.1% - agricultural workers, 8.2% - artisans, merchants, business leaders, 16.0% - workers in the intellectual sphere, 26.5% - social workers , 28.7% - civil servants and 20.6% - workers [7] .
Population distribution by employment outside the city of Aix-les-Bains: 1.9% - agricultural workers, 9.7% - artisans, traders, business leaders, 17.8% - workers in the intellectual sphere, 25.2% - social workers , 25.7% - civil servants and 19.8% - workers [7] .

Policy
According to the law of May 17, 2013 [3], voters in each canton elect two members of the general council of a different gender during an election. They are elected for 6 years by a majority of votes based on the result of one or two rounds of elections [8] .
In the first round of the cantonal elections on March 22, 2015, 6 pairs of candidates ran for Aix-les-Bains-1 (the turnout was 50.21%). In the second round on March 29, Claude Giroud and Natalie Schmitt were elected with the support of 64.30% for 2015-2021. The turnout was 48.40% [9] .
