Baraba is a village in the urban district of Bogdanovich of the Sverdlovsk region . It is governed by the Baraba Village Council [2] .

Content
Geographical position
The village of Baraba of the Bogdanovich City District municipality is located on the eastern and southern shores of Lake Kukuyan , 17 kilometers (22 km along the highway) west of the district’s administrative center, the city of Bogdanovich . In the vicinity of the village there is a swamp, as well as a hydrological and botanical natural monument - Lake Kukayan , the Siberian Highway passes 3 kilometers to the north, and the Gryaznovskaya Sverdlovsk Railway station is 2.5 kilometers to the north-west [3] .
Village History
The settlement was founded in 1604 [3] .
School
In 1895 a school was opened [3] .
Church of John
In 1900, there was already a wooden chapel in the village [4] . The chapel was rebuilt in 1915 into a stone, one-seeded church, which was consecrated in the name of Blessed John Ustyuzhsky. The church was closed in 1930, and in Soviet times it was demolished [3] .

According to the 2002 census, the national composition is as follows: Russians - 89% [6] . According to the 2010 census, the village had: men - 572, women - 581 [7] .
Infrastructure
The village is divided into eight streets (March 8, Vostochnaya, Lenina, Lesnaya, Molodezhnaya, Oktyabrskaya, Sedova, Sovetskaya) and one lane (Lesnoy) [8] , there is a school (MKOU Barabinskaya secondary school [9] ), a kindergarten (MKDOU Kindergarten No. 22 [10] ) and the post office [8] .
