September 9th University ( tour: Dokuz Eylül Üniversitesi ) (DEÜ) is a university located in Izmir , Turkey . Opened in 1982 with 10 faculties. In 1997, the university opened a medical faculty.

The name was given in honor of the events of the final episode of the Greek-Turkish war (1919-1922). On September 9, 1922, the Turkish army entered Izmir.
