Swordsmen ^[1] ( lat. Xiphophorus ) is a genus of ray-finned fish of the family Peciliidae (Poeciliidae) of the order Cyprinodontiformes.

Distributed in the fresh waters of Central America (Belize, Guatemala, Honduras) and Mexico. Color changes from black to lemon.

Several species are popular among aquarists .
