History
The building of the Government of the Republic of Moldova was built in 1964, by the project of architect S. Fridlin , on Victory Square in Chisinau (along Stefan cel Mare Avenue ) at the place where the headquarters of the former Metropolis and the Periodical Press in Bessarabia were located in front of the building.
The building is a 6-storey reinforced concrete structure lined with white stone. It has the shape of a letter P. It was made in a modern architectural style, the expressiveness of its architectural appearance is underlined by a clear metric order of vertical pylons and panoramic windows.
On the facades of the structure, the vertical movement of the pylons is stopped by a powerful cornice resting on them at the level of the last floor, in the center of which, on the axis of symmetry of the building (above the central entrance), is the coat of arms of the Republic of Moldova . The basement and the runways of the entrances to the building are lined with black granite, which contrasts in color with the light stone facing of the pylons. Above the main entrance to the building is the inscription "The Government of the Republic of Moldova".
The building of the Government of the Republic of Moldova has never been restored, only current repairs were carried out, and at present its condition is considered satisfactory. The building is of national importance.
