Content
History
Developed in the late 1980s on the instructions of the USSR Ministry of Defense .
Production started in 1993.
Pre-production vehicles (equipped with the TMZ-8424 engine manufactured by the Tutaevsky Motor Plant with a capacity of 425 hp) were tested in various climatic conditions and were offered for sale in 1996 [1] .
In 1998, the first 12 MAZ-6317 chassis were handed over to the Armed Forces of Belarus [2] . After completion of factory and field tests, in 2001 it was decided to supply MAZ-6317 to the armed forces of Belarus [3] .
In March 2016, an agreement was signed on the assembly production of MAZ-6317 trucks in Cherkassy, at the subsidiary of the Bogdan Corporation Automobile Assembly Plant No. 2 (under the name Bogdan-6317) [4] . Subsequently, the Kiev-based company ZAO NPO Praktika mastered the manufacture of the armored version MAZ-6317 (with an armored cockpit of its own design and body protection) [5] .
It is in service with the armed forces of Belarus [6] , the Russian Federation, Azerbaijan, and is also used by fire services and other civil organizations of these countries.

- Bogdan-63172 is a MAZ-6317 variant with a Chinese-made 4-stroke 6-cylinder WP10.380E32 engine, introduced in 2017 [7]
Base Machines
BM-21A BelGrad is a Belarusian modification of the BM-21 Grad , the artillery unit of which was transferred from the Ural-375D chassis to the MAZ-6317-05 chassis. BelGrad is equipped with hydraulic stops and can transport two ammunition instead of one. Development was started in 1997, the machine was put into service in 2001 [8] .
