Content
History
On May 5, 2016, President Nursultan Nazarbayev ordered the creation of the Ministry of Information and Communications. [one]
The ministry was created the next day, May 6th. The Ministry was headed by Presidential Press Secretary Abaev Dauren Askerbekovich. The head of the department was introduced to the team by the Prime Minister of the Republic of Kazakhstan, Karim Masimov. [2]
On February 25, 2019, by decree of the President of the Republic of Kazakhstan Nursultan Nazarbayev, the Ministry of Information and Communications was abolished [3] .
Functions
The Ministry provides leadership in the areas of:
• monitoring the information space of any form of ownership, including Internet resources and social networks, with the goal of quickly identifying and responding to the most acute problems;
• study of public opinion on the most relevant topics and issues, analysis and forecast of information requests and expectations of the population; • development of state information policy;
• coordination and control of information activities and activity of all government bodies;
• planning and analysis of the effectiveness of the state information order and funds allocated by the state;
• attracting investment and innovation for the development of domestic media as a modern segment of the economy;
• improving the quality of domestic information products to ensure information security, both in electronic and print space;
• building the most effective model of crisis communications; providing channels of interaction with the public, including NGOs.
