Biography
Born July 13, 1930 in Leningrad .
In 1952 - graduated from the Faculty of Mathematics and Mechanics of Leningrad State University named after A. A. Zhdanova , after he entered the correspondence post-graduate course, working on the distribution in military unit 12659.
In 1954 he defended his thesis, topic: “On the Cauchy problem for the equations of motion of an inhomogeneous elastic medium”, and works as an assistant in the department of higher mathematics and mathematical physics of the Faculty of Physics of Leningrad State University, in 1956, he began teaching at the faculty of mathematics and mechanics that was created at the Faculty of Mathematics and Mechanics Department of Mathematical Physics.
In 1964 he defended his doctoral dissertation on the topic "Geometrical-optical methods in the theory of unsteady waves and fundamental solutions of hyperbolic equations."
In 1965 - awarded the academic title of professor.
From 1967 to the present, he has been the chief researcher, head of the laboratory of mathematical problems of geophysics at the St. Petersburg branch of the V. A. Steklov Institute of Mathematics, Russian Academy of Sciences .
In the 2000s, as a professor, he taught at the Department of Higher Mathematics and Mathematical Physics, Faculty of Physics, St. Petersburg State University. Then part-time again he worked as a professor at the Department of Mathematical Physics of the Mathematical and Mechanical Faculty of St. Petersburg State University.
Scientific and social activities
His research interests are in the theory of diffraction and wave propagation.
He reads both general and special courses for students of the Faculty of Mathematics, Mechanics and Physics of St. Petersburg State University .
Under his leadership, 30 candidate and 5 doctoral dissertations were defended.
Author of more than 150 scientific articles and 6 monographs, member of the editorial boards of a number of journals.
Member of the editorial board of the journal Algebra i Analiz .
