Desideer Collard ( March 29, 1931 , Hronets, Brezno district , Czechoslovakia ) is a Slovak higher education teacher, linguist , Russian specialist, creator of Russian-Slovak dictionaries.

Biography
In 1950 he entered, and in 1955 he graduated from the Faculty of Philosophy of Bratislava University. Comenius (then called the Slovak University) and the Faculty of Philosophy of Charles University in Prague (direction " Russian and Slovak languages "). In 1954 - 1955 He was an employee of the Institute of the Slovak Language of the Slovak Academy of Sciences , in 1955-1963. an employee of the Czechoslovak-Soviet Institute of the Slovak Academy of Sciences, in 1964-1970. an employee of the Institute of World Literature and Languages of the Slovak Academy of Sciences, in 1961-1965. was the head of the department of linguistics and the deputy director of the Institute of World Literature and Languages (graduate student, researcher), in 1966-1970. Desideer Collard served as Executive Secretary of the Slovak Committee of Slavists, in 1972-1984. was a member of the scientific council of the pedagogical faculty of the Comenius University , since 1972 - a member of the West Slovakian regional committee of the Association of Russianists of Slovakia, in 1973-1975. - Member of the Czechoslovak Commission on the History of Slavic Studies, in 1973-1978. Chairman of the branch of the Slovak Linguistic Society at the Slovak Academy of Sciences in Trnava . In 1967, he received an honorary badge of Czechoslovak-Soviet friendship of the first degree for significant achievements in the development of Czechoslovak-Soviet friendship, in 1970-1984. He was the head of the department of the Russian language and literature of the Faculty of Education (in Trnava ) of the Comenius University of Bratislava (senior lecturer, associate professor), in 1980-1984. He was deputy dean of the faculty for educational work.
In 1980, he received the bronze medal of the Comenius University of Bratislava , in 1985 - the commemorative medal of the Executive Committee of the Communist Party of Czechoslovakia and the Executive Committee of the National Front of Czechoslovakia on the occasion of the 40th anniversary of the liberation of Czechoslovakia by the Soviet Army . In 1984-1995 worked at the Department of Languages of the Institute for the Training of Scientific Researchers of the Slovak Academy of Sciences (independent scientific researcher, leading scientific researcher), head of the department.
Since 1995, retired.
His research interests included mainly research on modern and historical lexicology and lexicography of the Russian language and their comparison with lexicology and lexicography of the Slovak language. As a co-author and editor-in-chief, he published 14 Russian-Slovak dictionaries and other works.
He played an important role in raising the level of translation activities, spreading the Russian language , training teachers and teaching the Russian language in Slovakia .
