Childhood and Youth
Zach King was born and raised in Portland, Oregon. [7] He is half Chinese on the paternal side, and a quarter Austrian and a quarter Nicaraguan on the maternal side.
Zack made his first film when he was 7 years old using a household camcorder [8] . At age 14, he acquired a set of video equipment, including a Mac computer, cameras, and a tripod, and began to shoot and edit video [9] . In December 2012, Zack graduated from the Faculty of Film and Media Arts [10]
Since 2014, married to Rachel Hill, they have two sons.
Career
In 2008, King opened his website FinalCutKing.com , where he published his lessons and tips on Final Cut Pro [11] , because he could not find suitable training materials on the Internet [12] . At the same time, he began using his channel on YouTube to publish training materials on visual effects obtained using software [13] . When his site became popular, he began selling training seminars, using money to pay for his studies [9] .
In 2010, he won first place in the Hewlett-Packard advertising competition and received the right to go along the red carpet of the London Film Festival [9] . In 2011, Zack uploaded to YouTube a video called Jedi Kittens ( from the English - “ Jedi Kittens ” ) [16] , created with a college friend. In the video, two cats fought with lightsabers [17] . The video scored more than a million views in three days [10] and then - over 14 million views [2] . The continuation of the video called Jedi Kittens Strike Back ( from the English - “ Jedi Kittens Strike Back ” ) [18] earned more than 17 million views [19] . The third part of the video - Jedi Kittens with Force ( from the English - “The Power of the Jedi Kittens” ) was posted in 2014 on King’s official YouTube channel FinalCutKing [20] .
In May 2013, he was named by YouTube one of America’s 25 most promising young movie makers. As part of the NextUp Creators contest held by YouTube, King won $ 35,000 and a four-day trip to New York on YouTube Creator Camp . His submission to the contest was called Contest Entry Gone Wrong [21] ( from the English - “Something went wrong with the submission to the contest” ). In the video, when he starts asking to be chosen as a winner, an air attack suddenly begins on him [15] .
Vine
King started an account on Vine in September 2013, following his friends. After creating an account there over the next thirty days, he decided to create one 6-second video daily. The first videos were successful, and he decided to continue their creation and publication [22] .
His first vine movie, I have a Pikachu kitty !!!! [23] ( from the English. - “My kitten is Pikachu !” ) Collected more than 11 million views and 450 thousand likes [6] .
