Green, Alfred

Alfred E. Green ( born Alfred E. Green ; July 11, 1889 , Perris , California - September 4, 1960 , Hollywood, California) is an American film director. Green joined the film industry in 1912 as an actor in the Selig Polyscope Company. He became assistant director of Colin Campbell. Then he was the director of short films, since 1917 he shot full-length films.

During his career in cinema, which lasted until 1950, Green shot such stars as Mary Pickford , Wallace Reed and Colleen Moore . In the 1926s, Ella cinders directed by himself, he can be seen playing as a director. In 1935, Green directed the film Dangerous with Bette Davis in the title role, which won the Academy Award for Best Actress. Much later, the hit " Jolson 's History " (1946) and Western "Four to the West" (1948) came out. Later he shot only category B films . At the end of his career, he shot several episodes in television series.

Alfred Green was married to silent film actress Vivian Reed. They had three children, Douglas Green, Hilton Green, and Marshall Green, all three were assistant directors.

Alfred Green has a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame.
