Boyeros ( spanish oxherds ) is one of 15 municipalities or districts ( spanish municipios ) in Havana , Cuba .

The municipality was established in 1976 and is connected to the city of Santiago de Las Vegas. It is located in the southwestern part of the city and stretches towards the international airport "Jose Marti" . In 2004, the population of Boyeros Municipality was 188,593. The total area of 134 km², population density is 1407.4 / km².
History
In the 18th, 19th and early 20th centuries, there was a massive migration of Canary Island residents to Boyeros.
