Madagascar-Mozambican relations - bilateral diplomatic relations between Madagascar and Mozambique . The countries are separated by the Mozambique Channel , which is located in the western part of the Indian Ocean and is the longest strait on Earth - about 1,760 kilometers, the smallest width of the strait - 422 kilometers [1] .

History
Historically, the slave trade was carried out through the Strait of Mozambique, slaves from Madagascar were brought by water to the coast of Portuguese East Africa (present-day Mozambique), and from there they were sent to third countries. From 1610 to 1810, about 160,000 slaves from Madagascar and the Mascarene Islands passed through Portuguese East Africa [2] . Currently, there are practically no trade and political contacts between the countries.
