Early life and career
Born under the name Mabel Croft in Philadelphia , PA [2] . Originally engaged in painting. Soon her paintings attracted attention at various exhibitions and she was offered to act in films. During the First World War, its popularity was wide. Between 1917-1925 She starred in 28 films.
The most famous films featuring Ballin are: “ Riders of the Purple Sage ” (1925) [3] , “The Glorious Adventure of ” (1918), “ Jane Eyre ” (1921) and “ Vanity Fair ” (1923), where she played the role of Becky Sharp.
Personal life
In 1917, Mabel married director Hugo Ballin [4] . The marriage lasted until the death of Hugo in 1956.
Death
Died in 1958 in Santa Monica , California . She was buried next to her husband at the Woodlawn Memorial Cemetery cemetery .
