Biography

Born in a working class family in the village of Pokrovskoye, Kherson province (currently the city of Apostolovo, Dnipropetrovsk region of Ukraine ). Received primary education.

He worked as a worker in the Moscow exploration expedition. In 1934-1936, at the call of the Kizlyar Military Commissariat, he served in the ranks of the Red Army . In December 1941, the Frunze district military commissariat of Alma-Ata was called up again. Since July 1942 on the fronts of World War II . Defended Stalingrad , liberated Donbass and Odessa , forced the Western Bug and Vistula , liberated Poland , stormed Berlin .

After crossing the Western Bug River in the Lublin direction of the guard, Private Tolmachev with his calculation at the end of July 1944 went to the Vistula River near the town of Magnuszew, Masovian Voivodeship . On August 1, 1944, he calculatedly crossed over to the captured bridgehead on the left bank and sent his gun to it. Repulsing the enemy’s fierce counterattacks, by direct fire from an open firing position, he destroyed 1 machine gun and before the enemy soldiers platoon. He was wounded in battle, but after first aid he did not leave the battlefield, continuing to fire. By order of the 57th Guards Rifle Division of August 28, 1944, he was awarded the Order of Glory of the 3rd degree.

During the Vistula-Oder Guard operation , Junior Sergeant Tolmachev using his gun’s fire on January 29, 1945 near the settlement of Schartsig (currently Sharch , Lubusz Voivodeship ) destroyed 2 mortars of the enemy before the soldiers platoon.
On January 30, in a night battle for the village of Glaysen, he destroyed up to 15 enemy soldiers and destroyed the enemy stronghold located in a stone house.
On February 2, when an enemy convoy was discovered near Alt-Limmeritz (now Lemežice ), the crew quickly deployed a gun and opened fire on the enemy. 3 vehicles with ammunition were destroyed. By order of the 8th Guards Army of the Guard, Junior Sergeant Tolmachev was awarded the Order of Glory of the 2nd degree on March 26, 1945.

On April 27, 1945, in street battles in Berlin, supporting the attacking infantry, the guards, Junior Sergeant Tolmachev, destroyed their anti-tank guns with the fire of their guns and a firing point near the platoon of enemy soldiers. By a decree of the Presidium of the Supreme Soviet of the USSR of May 15, 1946, he was awarded the Order of Glory of the 1st degree.

Guard Junior Sergeant Tolmachev was demobilized in October 1945. He moved to the city of Novokuznetsk, where he worked in the department of private security at the Kuznetsk District Department of Internal Affairs. In 1984, retired. In 1985, in commemoration of the 40th anniversary of the Victory, he was awarded the Order of the Patriotic War of the 1st degree .

Isai Danilovich Tolmachev died in 2000.
