Chernov, Valentin Ivanovich

Valentin Ivanovich Chernov (January 7, 1894, Tarashcha , Kiev province - June 24, 1980, Feodosia , Crimea ) - Russian Soviet musician , conductor and teacher , astronomer . Honored Artist of the Kyrgyz SSR (1945). One of the founders and member of the presidium of the " Society for the Study of Interplanetary Communications " - the first space organization in the country (1924) [1] .

Biography

Born in the family of composer Ivan Chernovich . After graduating from a music school in Kharkov, he studied in Paris with the famous Catalan cellist Pablo Casals . In parallel with music lessons, he visited the observatory of the famous astronomer Camille Flammarion . He graduated from the Moscow Conservatory in cello and the Physics and Mathematics Department of Moscow University with a degree in astronomy (1918).

In 1919, on October 9, he was arrested and rehabilitated for political reasons only in 2003.

In 1924 he took an active part in the creation of the "Society for the Study of Interplanetary Communications" - the first space organization in the country. Later he entered the constituent council of the organization and carried out a lot of popularizing activities.

In 1918-1935 he worked in the Bolshoi Theater Orchestra :

Since 1921 - the conductor of the opera studio of the theater, and since 1927 he became the conductor of the theater. In 1935, he unexpectedly left Moscow. Then he worked as a conductor:

  • 1935 - 1937 - worked in Lugansk. He held the position of conductor of the Donetsk State Opera and Ballet Theater
  • 1937-1939 - Udmurt Opera House ( Izhevsk );
  • 1939-1945 - Kyrgyz Musical Drama Theater ( Frunze ) [2] [3] [4]
  • 1945-1947 - Tajik Opera and Ballet Theater. S. Aini ( Dushanbe );
  • 1947-1951 - Novosibirsk Opera House [5] ;
  • 1951-1961 - Kazakh State Academic Opera and Ballet Theater named after Abay ( Alma-Ata ):
  • 1961-1967 - Symphony Orchestra of the Southern Coast of Crimea [6] ( Yalta ) and the head of the opera studio.

In 1951-1967 he was engaged in pedagogical activities (including at the Alma-Ata Conservatory) [7] .

He created lyrical symphonic sketches, which were successfully performed at concerts.

In Alma-Ata, he married Irina Dmitrievna Zotova (1925-2000) [8] .
