Polyaniline

Polyaniline structure: n + m = 1, x = degree of polymerization

Polyaniline is a polymer with electronic conductivity, unlike most known polymers, which under normal conditions are insulators. Does not elicit an immune response [1]

Polyaniline consists of repeating N-phenyl-p-phenylenediamine and quinondiimine blocks. Depending on their ratio, leycomeraldine (n = 0, m = 1), pernigraniline and emeraldine are distinguished . The last two exist in the form of salt and base.

Properties

  • leuko-meraldine is a colorless substance that slowly oxidizes in air
  • pernigraniline and its salt are unstable blue-violet compounds
  • emeraldine base is a dark violet substance which, when protonated with strong acids, gives a green salt with a conductivity of about 1 S / cm and higher.

Notes

  1. ↑ Bionic compounds (neopr.) .
