Secodontosaurus ( Secodontosaurus ) is an unusual sphenacodontic pelicosaurus of the Early Permian era. It differs from other sphenacodonts in a long low muzzle (resembles the face of fish-eating crocodiles). The length of the skull is about 30 cm. Most likely, he ate fish. Could eat digging animals (pulled them out of the holes?), As indicated by the unusual tooth structure and relatively strong jaws for a fish-eating animal. 2 species, from early Perm of North America (Texas). The type species is S. obtusidens , described by E. D. Cope in 1880 as a species of the dimetrodon genus, and A. Sh. Romer singled out into a special genus in 1936 .
