Liffey River ( Engl. Liffey River ) - a river in the northern part of Tasmania ( Australia ), was formerly also known as Penny Royal Creek ( Eng. Penny Royal Creek ) [1] . The total length of the river is about 53 km [2] , the basin area is about 234 km² [3] . It flows into the Meander River [4] .

Geography
The source of the Liffey River is located at an altitude of about 1210 m , on the mountain range, which runs along the northern tip of the of Tasmania . The source is located on the slope of Projection Bluff Mountain ( Projection Bluff , 1293 m ), about 5-6 km north of Great Lake [5] . are located a bit downstream [6] [7] [8] .
Below the river’s waterfalls is the village of , and even further downstream is the small town of . The Liffey River flows into Meander in the vicinity of the village of , located 17 km southwest of Launceston - the second largest city in Tasmania [1] [5] . Liffey is one of the main tributaries of the Meander River, which also includes Quamby Brook and Western Creek [9] .
A little upstream from Carrick, the Liffey River crosses a road running along the north coast of Tasmania from Launceston to Devonport . A road crosses the river in Carrick itself Meander Valley Road ( Meander Valley Road ) [5] .
