Alarodia on the map of Transcaucasia between macrons and Caspians
Alarodii ( Greek Ἀλαροδίοι ) - the ancient people inhabiting the Armenian Highlands , who lived in the valley of the Araks River [1] . Herodotus is mentioned as tributaries of the power of the Achaemenids in the XVIII district (together with the saspirs ) [2] . Alarodia participated in the expedition of the Persians to Greece in the V century. BC. along with the sapphires. Their militia was led by Masistius, son of Siromitra. Herodotus emphasizes that their weapons resembled the weapons of kolkhs (daggers, spears, leather shields and wooden helmets) [3]
Subsequently, they were assimilated by the Armenians [1] . Some researchers identify Alarodians with Urartians [4]
