Frank Sinatra Version
Frank Sinatra re-wrote this song on the 1956 album Songs for Swingin 'Lovers! . According to Thomas Ward in his review on the AllMusic website, despite the fact that this “magnificent song” “was performed before him by literally hundreds of jazz vocalists and cruners ”, he made it his own, in his version “this is a masterpiece”. Moreover, the main advantage of this record, Ward considers the arrangement of Nelson Riddle , which, according to legend, he finished on the way to the studio. Again, according to legend, after the song in his arrangement was first driven out as a whole there, all the musicians simultaneously stood up and began to applaud. According to Ward, this is arguably the best song on that Sinatra album [1] .
In 1998, Frank Sinatra's single with this song (1956, Capitol Records ) was admitted to the Grammy Award Hall of Fame [2] .
Also, the song, in particular, was included (again in the original performance of Frank Sinatra) in the list of All-TIME 100 Songs compiled by Time magazine in 2011 (100 best songs since the founding of Time magazine) [3] .
