EKSTU named after D. Serikbayev is one of the leading technical universities in Kazakhstan, which trains specialists for metallurgy, mechanical engineering, energy, architecture and construction, transport, information systems, as well as professional economists. History

1958 year. By Decree of the Council of Ministers of the USSR of August 5, No. 866 and Decree of the Council of Ministers of the Kazakh SSR of August 30, No. 765, the Ust-Kamenogorsk Road Construction Institute was organized. D. M. Serikbaev was appointed the first rector of the UCLA. The opening of a technical university in the East Kazakhstan region was objectively predetermined by the rapid development of the economy in the East of Kazakhstan and the acute need for engineering and technical personnel to ensure it.

For the placement of educational buildings, student hostels, sports grounds and residential buildings, the City Council of Deputies allocated 66 hectares of land on the banks of the Irtysh. In the early years, the university was located in the educational building of the construction college transferred to it, the administrative building of the Kazgiproots design institute, and the students lived in a hostel for 400 students at Vostokmashzavod .

In the specialties: industrial and civil construction, the production of concrete and reinforced concrete products and structures, construction and road machinery and equipment, roads and the operation of road transport, 175 people were accepted, including 100 people for full-time education, 75 people for correspondence. The institute structure included 8 departments: Marxism-Leninism, chemistry, higher mathematics, physics, descriptive geometry and graphics, theoretical mechanics, structural mechanics, geodesy, which employed 13 teachers, including 3 candidates of sciences, and 10 laboratory assistants. In connection with the organization in 1959 of the building and auto-mechanical faculties, the newly opened departments of metal technology and special training, as well as the departments of building mechanics, theoretical mechanics, higher mathematics, Marxism-Leninism, belonged to the auto-mechanical faculty, the rest became part of the building faculty.

Since September 1, 1959 , the correspondence faculty was opened on the basis of the Ust-Kamenogorsk consultative center of the All-Union Correspondence Engineering and Construction Institute. In 1960, the Department of Physical Education and Sport was created, which was headed by B. Levchenko. In 1961, the first scientific and technical conference of the teaching staff and students was held at the University. The scientific reports of 45 teachers and 10 students were heard and discussed. Since 1962, the General Technical Faculty began to operate in the city of Zyryanovsk. In 1963, the Semipalatinsk Training and Advisory Center of the All-Russian Scientific and Technical Institute was transferred to the Institute, and a year later it was transformed into a general technical faculty. In 1962, the Institute was headed by a doctor of architecture, professor A. Sidorov. The formation of a computer center dates back to the early 60s. In 1962, Kakhanov A.A., Smirnov B.P., Korovina A.V., Chernyavsky V.S., Makartsev M.I. were sent to Minsk for special training in Minsk. In 1963, the first graduation of 79 young specialists , 8 of which received a diploma with honors. Since 1963, the institute student movement began. 480 soldiers in the Pavlodar region erected 33 objects, including 7 semi-detached houses, a school, 2 dormitories, etc. In 1965, the main building of the institute with a total area of ​​3,000 square meters was commissioned. m., a dormitory for 516 places and a residential building for 48 apartments. In 1966-1967 a laboratory building, a block of general institute premises with an assembly hall, sports halls and a library, and a third dormitory for 516 people were put into operation.

The expansion of the material and technical base made it possible to increase the enrollment of students and open new faculties: architectural (1964), engineering and economics ( 1965 ), water supply and sewage ( 1967 ).

February 25, 1967 the first issue of the institute newspaper “For Knowledge” was published. The editor of the large circulation approved the head. Department of History of the CPSU Associate Professor Savostenko V. M.

Since 1967 , the faculty of advanced training began to operate at the institute.

In the year of its 10th anniversary, the institute received 1,550 people, including 725 people in full-time education. 340 teachers worked at 35 departments, 36 of which had academic degrees and titles.

In 1972 , the evening branch of UKSDI was opened in the city of Alma-Ata, the material base for which was provided by the Ministry of Roads of the Republic.

Since 1972 , a new structure has been introduced in the SDI - the general engineering faculty, which has combined 13 departments of general engineering disciplines and 54 student groups of 1 and 2 courses, with the exception of architects and economists. In 1974 , for active participation in the Exhibition of Achievements of the National Economy of the Republic, UKSDI was awarded the I degree diploma of the VDNH of the Kazakh SSR.

Since 1975 , a club-dining room for 500 seats and a fifth student dormitory have been commissioned.

The opening of new specialties: “Bridges and Tunnels” ( 1976 ) and “Organization of Road Traffic” ( 1977 ) made it possible to increase the student enrollment plan to 1525 people, including 950 people for full-time studies.

In the 1980 - 1981 academic year, in accordance with the order of the Ministry of Higher Education of the Kazakh SSR, structural changes were made in the SDI. Students studied in 12 specialties at 6 full-time faculties, the largest of which are: road transport (Dean R. Tulendenov), urban construction (N. I. Zakharov), and architectural (A. A. Skalaban).

In 1986 , the institute was headed by a candidate of economic sciences, professor, full member of the Academy of Natural Sciences of the Republic of Kazakhstan, corresponding member of the Academy of Sciences of the Higher School of Kazakhstan, the Engineering Academy of the Republic of Kazakhstan Batalov Yu. V.

In April 1986 , in order to intensify the educational process, the Department of Applied Mathematics and Computer Engineering was organized under the guidance of the candidate of physical and mathematical sciences, associate professor V. Lisieva

Since 1987 , students began to be accepted on a contractual basis.

In 1988 , as a result of the reorganization, 3 faculties were created: architecture and construction (Dean A. Goltsev), road transport (R. Tulendenov), road-mechanical (V. Antonov).

In 1987 , the first certification of a university was carried out, confirming its strong place among the leading universities of the country.

In 1992 , in order to implement the Law on Languages ​​and the state program for the development of the Kazakh language, the institute opened a branch with the Kazakh language of instruction in 4 specialties, transformed in 1995 into a faculty.

In September 1995 , a presentation of the East Kazakhstan region and an exhibition of product samples of enterprises were held on the basis of the UKSI, in which more than 20 foreign firms took part.

In 1995, the university was appointed the head of the republic on the problems of reliability and machine resources. On its basis, by order of the Ministry of Science and New Technologies, a scientific and engineering center has been established since 1994.

On May 7, 1996 , Decree of the Government of the Republic of Kazakhstan No. 573 reorganized the UKSDI into the East Kazakhstan Technical University. At the request of the university, by the Decree of the Government of the Republic of Kazakhstan dated November 3, 1997 No. 1485, he was named after Daulet Serikbayev.

In 1997 , a sociolinguistic laboratory began to work under the direction of Doctor of Sciences, Professor N. Tchaikovsky.

In 1998 , a sociodemographic laboratory was created under the guidance of a doctor of sciences, professor N. Alekseenko, on the basis of which a number of international scientific and practical conferences “Ethnodemographic processes in Kazakhstan and adjacent territories in the 20th century” were held.

In 1999 , a college was opened at the university, whose graduates can continue their studies at the university. Director - Candidate of Physics and Mathematics, Associate Professor Abrosov V. N.

In January 2000 , the university was headed by Ph.D. in Economics, professor of the Kazakh State Agrarian University, full member of the International Economic Academy of Eurasia G. N. Gamarnik

In June 2000 , VKTU was certified by the State Certification Commission.

January 31, 2001 by the Decree of the Government of the Republic of Kazakhstan No. 163 East Kazakhstan Technical University named after D. Serikbaev was renamed the Republican State Treasury Enterprise "East Kazakhstan State Technical University named after D. Serikbayev. "

On May 17, 2001 , the university was granted license No. 0000092 for 36 specialties of higher professional education and 8 specialties of higher basic education.

In August 2001 , the university was included in the list of accredited higher educational institutions of the Republic of Kazakhstan.

In October 2001 , on the basis of EKSTU, the 1st republican festival of student youth "Zhas Tolkyn" was held.

Ratings

In 2014, the Expert RA agency included the university in the list of the best higher educational institutions of the Commonwealth of Independent States , where it was assigned a rating class “E” [1] .
