Taaki, Amir

Amir Taaki (born February 7, 1988 , London , United Kingdom ) is a developer of computer games and software, a Briton of Iranian origin. He is best known as a developer of open source projects, in particular, associated with Bitcoin [1] . Forbes magazine included him in the list of thirty promising British entrepreneurs under the age of thirty [2] [3] [4] .

Biography

The mother of Amir Taaki is of Scottish-English descent, and the father is of Iranian origin. Amir Taaki began to study information technology at an early age. Expelled from school for hacking a school computer network and dropped out of university three times. Before the advent of Bitcoin, Taaki already had a little fame as a developer of open source software for creating computer games [5] : in 2006, he took part in the development of the open engine Crystal Space under the pseudonym genjix , and also developed games on this engine, for example Crystal Core and Ecksdee . In 2007, he was a speaker at the Games Convention event in Leipzig (Germany). In the 2008th was a participant in the project from the Blender Foundation .

Bitcoin

In 2009-2010, I was engaged in professional poker game and learned about bitcoin due to the difficulties of opening my own poker room on the Internet [6] . The author of the format of proposals for improving the Bitcoin Protocol BIP ( Bitcoin Improvement Proposal ) [7] [8] , similar to the PEP for Python or RFC in the case of the Internet. The author of the libraries for working with bitcoin: SX, written in Python , and libbitcoin , written in C ++ and used in the Electrum bitcoin client.

In 2013, in an interview with Russia Today, he expressed the opinion that black Internet markets (such as Silk Road ) reduce crime, since they exclude organized criminal groups from mediation [9] . One of the founders of the unSystem community, whose stated goal is “not to accept and not obey the rules of the people responsible for immersing the world in a permanent financial crisis” and “with or without their permission, building a better future, on the ashes of the system they (the people responsible for financial crisis) they will destroy themselves ” [10] . Co-author of Dark Wallet, Dark Market (later renamed to OpenBazaar and departed from the black market concept in favor of a decentralized alternative to centralized online markets ) and Darkleaks decentralized information sales service, which Taaky believes will financially encourage insiders to disclose information in the public interest [11] [12] . He starred in the documentary “The Deep Web, ” which premiered in March 2015 [13] .

Activism and Rozhava

Amir Taaki is a follower of the ideas of anarchism . For some time he lived in an anarchist squat in Barcelona , and then in a London squat, formerly the headquarters of the protests against the G8 summit.

In 2015, leaving the development of the Dark Wallet , he went to Syrian Kurdistan (Rozhava) to apply his knowledge of the Kurdish "greatest revolution since the civil war in Spain ." There, he first spent three and a half months in the Kurdish self-defense units YPG . Finally, he was recalled to the rear, where he was able to offer his technical skills. He entered the economic committee of the region and became the only foreigner invited to participate in the economic conference, at which it was decided to establish cooperative farms in the lands of Rogava. He studied Kurdish at the Rozhava Academy and taught local residents how to work on the Internet and open source programs. In addition, he participated in the ideological training of foreign volunteers, a research project on solar panels and the foundation of a revolutionary magazine for young women. His most important contribution was the development of an educational course on technologies for the local education system.

When Taaki returned to London in May 2016, he was arrested by the British police at Heathrow Airport and placed under house arrest, which he was serving at his mother’s house [14] . Supports the use of the Esperanto language in international communication [15] .
