Yatsunsky, Viktor Kornelevich

He graduated from the economics department of the Moscow Commercial Institute ( 1915 ) and the history and philology department of Moscow University ( 1916 ). Doctor of Historical Sciences ( 1950 ), Professor (1950).

From 1921 he taught at the Y. M. Sverdlov Communist University , at the Moscow City Pedagogical Institute . In the 1930s he taught at the Moscow Institute of Credit and Economics . ^[1] In 1947 - 1965 - Professor of the Department of auxiliary historical disciplines of the Moscow State Institute of History and Archives (MGIAI). From 1946 - Senior Researcher at the Institute of History, USSR Academy of Sciences, where he then headed the group of historical geography. An outstanding specialist in the field of historical geography, on his initiative in the 1950s, the teaching of this subject at MGIAI was restored. Author of works on the theoretical problems of the genesis of capitalism in Russia.

Awarded the Order of Lenin ^[2] .

Professor T. V. Bataeva recalled V. K. Yatsunsky, one of her teachers in her student years:

A great scientist, academic, a handsome man, he wanted the student to know beyond the scope of the course. On exams, after listening to the answer, I certainly asked a question about the native land of the examinee: when did the native city, village or village arise, in whose reign and in connection with which, played a role in historical events. After the “failures” appeared in the first group after such conversations, we rushed to the library to replenish our historical knowledge of our small homeland, and also patriotic ideas. Personally, I learned more about my native Orenburg then than during all my life in it.
