2016 World Curling Championship among veterans

The 2016 World Curling Championship among veterans was held in Karlstad ( Sweden ) from April 16 to 23 for both men's and women's teams. 26 male and 17 female teams took part in the championship. The championship was held for the 15th time. [one]

In the men's tournament, the Swedish team became the champion (for the first time in its history), having won the Canadian national team in the final. The third place was taken by the Irish national team , who won the Danish national team in the bronze medal match. [2]

In the women's tournament, the champion (for the 3rd time in her history) was the Scottish national team , who won the German national team in the final. The third place went to the Swedish team , who won the England team in the bronze medal match. [2]

For the first time, men's teams from Belgium, Israel and Slovenia, as well as women's teams from Latvia and Lithuania, took part in the championship.

The Turkish men's team, which applied for participation in the championship, withdrew from participation before the start of the competition.

The championship was held simultaneously in the same sports complex (but at different venues) with the 2016 World Championship among mixed couples .
