Biography
He studied at the gymnasium of Maribor . He received his higher education at the Faculty of Philosophy of the University of Ljubljana , which he graduated in 1930. He continued his education in Paris and Caen in France. He wrote poetry and books, worked as a translator and editor. Kroshl was the first chief editor of Ogenj magazine, the main publication of the organization Krekova Mladina (1928). In 1930, he became the head of the Christian Socialist publishing house Delavska založba. In 1934, together with Petelin Stanko, he published the book Pregled občne zgodovineregled (“Overview of a Common History”). In the same year, he wrote a school textbook Zgodovina trgovine s kratkim orisom občne zgodovine ("The history of trade with a brief outline of a common history", 1934), which was used in schools in the Kingdom of Yugoslavia . He served as professor at the Ljubljana Academy of Trade.
Krošl was one of the founders of distance education in Slovenia: he founded and led the private extramural school Dopisne trgovske šole.
In 1941, he received his doctorate at the Faculty of Philosophy in Ljubljana with the work of Zemljiška odveza na bivšem Kranjskem: organizacija in delo zemljiškoodveznih organov 1849-1853 .
During the Second World War, he founded and led the secret national-liberation organization " Brotherhood ". At the same time, he was also the founder and leader of the secret military organization Narodna legija ("People's Legion", formed in 1943).
The sister organizations and the People's Legion were politically gravitated to the centrists, shared monarchist views, but adhered to apolitical principles. They fought against the Italian and German occupiers. The "twin" and "People's Legion" supported the royal Yugoslav government in exile and the Western allies with whom they collaborated in the field of intelligence. Kroshl was also the head of the Main Organizing Committee of the Royal Yugoslav Army Command Headquarters in Slovenia. His post was the highest for a civilian in the army of Slovenia. The command of Slovenia was created in February 1942, and in August 1942 Kroshl was arrested by the Italian occupation forces and released only in 1943. After that, he joined the Directory, where he headed the military wing.
Kroshl was also the founder and leader of the secret military organization Narodna edinost (People's Unity), which issued the eponymous newspaper. In 1943 and 1944, he was the head of the state intelligence service of the Royal Yugoslav Army in Slovenia.
In 1944, Anton Krochl was arrested by German occupation forces and sent to the Dachau concentration camp, and from there transferred to the Neuengamme concentration camp near Hamburg in Germany. In 1945, the Germans evacuated the camp, Kroshl was among the 5,000 prisoners who died during the sinking of the Royal Armed Forces of the British ship " Cap Arkona " just a few days before the surrender of Germany.
