Tsilkani ( Georgian წილკანი ) is a village in the Mtskheta municipality of the Mtskheta-Mtianeti region of Georgia . Located in the Kartli Valley , a famous wine region.

History
The village is one of the centers of the origin of Christianity in Georgia. An early Christian church of the 2nd-3rd centuries was discovered in Tsilkani, the construction of which is attributed to the son of the first Christian king of Georgia, Mirian - Bakar.
In the V century, it became the center of the Tsilkan diocese [3] . In the VI century, St. Isa , a bishop of Tsilkansky [4] , one of the Assyrian (Syrian) fathers , conducted his activity here.
In the VIII century, the territory was surrounded by walls.
In the XIX century, the architectural complex was restored, the murals of the temple were preserved.
In 1801, a roadside station of the Georgian Military Highway was organized near the village.
