The total length ranges from 60 cm to 1.38 m. The head is triangular, wide. The body is strong. The tail is long. The color is dark gray, almost black, dark gray-brown, dark yellow, red-brown with light and dark transverse stripes, which are arranged alternately. The borders of these bands are “stitched” by the white line. The head is colored with narrow white stripes above the eyes and along the mouth, connected in front. The belly is gray, brown, reddish brown. In young individuals, the tail is bright orange or bright green.
Loves lowland coastal places, dry tropical forests, bushes, savannas, rocky slopes. He spends all his life on earth. At the same time, it swims well. Active at dusk or at night. It feeds on amphibians, birds, small mammals, lizards. snakes.
Oviviparous snake. The female gives birth to 3 to 20 cubs 25-32 cm long.
Life expectancy up to 24 years.
The poison of this snake is strong enough, causing severe pain, redness, swelling and necrosis around the bite. In the case of failure to provide timely assistance, death may occur.
The species is distributed in Mexico, Guatemala, Belize , Honduras , El Salvador , Nicaragua , and Costa Rica.

- Agkistrodon bilineatus lemosespinali was described in 2001 using a single sample found near Palma Sola in the Mexican state of Veracruz [2]
- Agkistrodon bilineatus russeolus lives on the Yucatan Peninsula and in the north of Belize.
