Theodor Hirsch ( German: Theodor Hirsch ; 1806-1861) - German historian and teacher ; cousin professor of history at the University of Berlin (1816-1860) [2] .

Biography
Theodor Hirsch was born on December 17, 1806 in the city of Danzig (now Gdansk, Poland ) into a Jewish family. He converted to Christianity and studied history and theology at the University of Berlin , after which he became a teacher in high school in his hometown in 1833, where he taught history for the next 32 years. In Danzig, he focused on the local history of the city, and in 1850 was appointed responsible for the reorganization of the municipal archives and supervision of them [3] .
In 1865, Hirsch became an associate professor at the University of Greifswald [4] and director of the university’s library .
He wrote many historical works on the history of Danzig, among which: “ Danzigs Handels und Gewerbgeschichte unter der Herrschaft des deutschen Ordens ” (Leipzig, 1858) [4] .
In 1860, together with and he published “ Scriptores rerum prussicarum ” (Leipzig, 1861–1874, parts 1–5) [4] .
Theodor Hirsch died on February 17, 1881 in the city of Greifswald .
His son (1843-1915) followed in the footsteps of his father and also became a historian and teacher [5] .
