Career
Pupil of the Lada hockey club. The first coach was Honored Coach of Russia Nikolai Nikolayev. He began his professional career in 2002 as part of the Higher League club of the Kirov-Chepetsk Olimpia . In the same season he also performed as part of Almetyevsk "Oilman" . In the 2002 NHL draft, he was selected in the 8th round under a total 233 number by the Tampa Bay Lightning Club [3] .
In 2003, he made his debut in the Super League as part of the native Lada, where he performed until 2007, twice becoming the prize-winner of the Russian championships. He spent the 2007/08 season in the Ak Bars Kazan [4] , after which he returned to Tolyatti [5] . In the middle of the season 2009/10 he became the player of Metallurg Magnitogorsk [6] . On June 30, 2010, he signed a contract with Serestal Cherepovets [7] , which included 38 matches in the 2010/11 season with a safety coefficient of 2.81. He was recognized as the best player of Severstal by the fans of the Cherepovets club, gaining 29.92% of the votes [8] . May 19, 2011 extended the agreement with the "steelworkers" for another 2 years [9] . May 1, 2013 returned to Metallurg [10] . March 19, 2019 goalkeeper signed a new contract with this club; The agreement is for 2 years.
In the national team
As part of the Russian national team, Vasily Koshechkin took part in six world championships: ( 2007 , 2009 , 2010 , 2011 , 2013 and 2018 ). Winner of all types of medals of world championships. Called to the national team to participate in Euro Hockey Tour matches. At the Russian stage, the 2017 Euro Hockey Tour held two games out of three, scored two wins with the team, reflecting 60 shots out of 61.
In February 2018, he was summoned to the Russian national team to participate in the Olympic Games , where he became the main goalkeeper.
