Research Area

Thanks to his studies of Bulgarian culture, Vakarelsky became one of the leading Bulgarian ethnographers and folklorists of the 20th century. For him, the highest degree was characteristic of the perception of folklore in a broad sense, which was not limited to literature [2] . Vakarelsky, in particular, was involved in the collection of Bulgarian folk songs [3] ; traditions and customs that had roots not only in Christian, but also in ancient culture [4] ; and also one of the first to describe the features of the Bulgarian folk costume and its symbols [5] .
