About the album

The Very Best of Prince is a collection of Prince ’s most commercially successful and best hits from 1979-1991 in their radio versions, including No. 1 singles like “ When Doves Cry ”, “ Let's Go Crazy ”, “ Kiss ” and “ Cream ”, But without the famous“ Batdance, ”due to licensing rights. The album received positive reviews from music critics and online publications ^[1] ^[2] ^[3] .

The Very Best of Prince in 2001 reached second place in the UK Albums in the UK, but was only No. 72 on the Top R & B / Hip-Hop Albums (Billboard) soul chart, and entered the Top 100 on the Billboard 200 American chart ^{[ 1]} . After the singer’s death in April 2016, the disc re-entered the US chart with a circulation of 179,000 equivalent units (100,000 true sales) and immediately at position No. 1 ^[4] , becoming the fifth charttopper for Prince in the Billboard 200. At the same time, two more albums entered the top ten : No. 2 - Purple Rain and No. 6 - The Hits / The B-Sides ^[5] .
