Liquid and agarized YPD

YEPD (from the English. Yeast extract peptone dextrose - yeast extract peptone dextrose ) or in short YPD - a complete nutrient medium for the growth of yeast . Contains yeast extract, peptone , double-distilled water and dextrose . It can be used as a solid medium after adding agar-agar . The yeast extract contains all the amino acids necessary for growth. Since YEPD is a complete medium, it cannot be used to select the necessary colonies by auxotrophy . Instead, YEPD is widely used in laboratory practice as a rich medium for standard cultivation of yeast biomass [1] .

The agarized version of YEPD consists of 0.3% (w / v) yeast extract, 1% peptone, 1% glucose, 2% agar, and the rest is distilled water. To prepare a liquid medium, you just need not add agar [2] .
