Content
Story
The plot of the film is based on the biography of Prince himself, although he was very freely revised. Events take place in Minneapolis at First Avenue & 7th Street Entry Club, where the Prince revolved in real life. Songs for the film were written by Prince himself. The plot integrates several appearances of his hero, whose name is The Kid. The main character performs with the accompanying band The Revolution , and the main antagonist named with the group The Time [4] .

The film grossed at the box office $ 80 million [4] .
The Purple Rain soundtrack album was released from the film, which not only was very successful commercially, but also brought the Prince an Oscar [4] in the category “ Best Soundtrack to a Musical Movie ”.
In addition, the film was nominated for two Golden Raspberry Awards : in the category “Worst New Star”, Apollonia Cotero was nominated for the award, and in the category “Worst Original Song” - the song “ Sex Shooter ” [5] .
Sequel
In 1990, the film “ Bridge of Graffiti ” was released, which can be considered a sequel to “Purple Rain”.
