Biography
Peter Ivanov was born on June 25, 1900 in the city of Rostov, Yaroslavl Province, in a merchant family. After graduating from the Rostov gymnasium, he studied at the Rostov branch of the Moscow Archaeological Institute . From 1922 to 1929 he worked at the Rostov Museum of Antiquities as a researcher and senior assistant to the museum curator. In 1930, he worked at the Zvenigorod Museum , then at the Ruza Museum [1] .
He was a member of the board of the Rostov Scientific Society for the Study of the Local Territory (RNOIMK), was the chairman of the bibliographic commission of the company and led its cultural and historical section. He studied the history, architecture and folklore of the Rostov region. Prepared for publication a reference book on ethnography of the Rostov region (not published). In 1926, he was a representative of RNOIMK at the VII Rybinsk Local History Congress. He was a corresponding member of the Central Bureau of Local Lore. He sent correspondence to the magazines "Local Lore" and "Izvestia PPM" [1] .
After the start of World War II, he went to the front. He died in 1941 [1] .
Many of the works of Peter Ivanov were not published. His manuscripts in 1968 were transferred to the State Archive of the Yaroslavl Region by a sister, Vera Sergeevna Ivanova.
